Well, that’s not exactly the headline to this article, but it should be. Or maybe a better title would be “More North Carolina Teachers Accept Bribes.” How about “North Carolina Leads the Nation in Bribed Teachers?” Well, they’re all more accurate and truthful than the actual headline about “Teacher Certification.”
The certification they list is nothing more than government bribing government employees to get other government agencies to give them a piece of paper so the education system can put out news releases (and so the education system has more cash). Seriously. The teachers get massive piles of pay (what would you do for a 12% raise for 10 years, no matter your performance?) and benefits for getting this “national certification.” I’m not saying it’s difficult, just that the only purpose is to, once again, expand the government education system.
Keep in mind — the government-run public education system is NOT about education or children. It has nothing to do with children. It is about getting, using, and spending government cash and absolutely nothing else.

I just posted about my disillusionment with the Republican party based on just this kind of idiotic economic pandering. Amen to this post, brother.
By the way, I’ll go update my links right now.
You have such a way with putting it out there Ogre! Bravo!
If minipulation of the masses were worth say… Gold, our government would have no deficit!!!
I just wish there were a way to get rid of this horrible “Education” system that only exists to spend money quickly. It took decades to build up, so it may take a long time to disappear — and so many profit from it that would oppose any change.
With so many people who must work outside the home to support families, (speaking of couples and single parents), the public schools are the only option they have. Maybe if the schools were made to be supported by the communities as opposed to the Federal Government, you would see improvement. After all, it is the individual communities that have more of a vested interest in schools working than a bunch of politicians and bureaucrats do. I think it would be a step in the right direction and could be done more quickly and on a broader scale.
The reason so many people work is to pay taxes. If we had a massive tax cut, more people could afford to not work. Then again, many people could afford to not work, but they’re not willing to give up their 500 channels, newest cell phone, and fancy new car. I submit that MOST people could afford to take their children out of government schools if they wanted to. No, not all, but a large number.
Yeah, if one decides to procreate, they should consider budgeting to live on one income, but most do not. I still think community educational co-ops would be another answer Ogre. It could work like a credit union, where the people who have children in a school, have ownership in the enterprise. They help pick the curriculum, determine how best to accomplish a quality education, etc. People who work because they must would have an option the empowers the parents more, and removes govenment from the who smear. Plus it’s not private school, because everyone that has children there has a stake in it. I think it could easily be used to “phase out” government run endocrination centers. And those teaching would truly work for the parents and children in a “free learning environment”. How kewl!
That would be GREAT. A first step in that direction would be “community schools” — which are violently and vehemently opposed by the government education system. There are a few co-ops that I know of in my area — but they’re not official, they officially “home schooled” kids that get together. They’re not allowed to say they’re teaching the kids, because it’s illegal to teach children other than your own in this state (unless you ask the state’s permission and join their education program, of course).
They try to get you coming and going. If you don’t have a Teacher License which you have to go before them and “pay them for” you can claim to be “teaching”. Also, if you have to “claim homeschooling”, that means the teaching organization you set up among families can’t claim “tax exempt status” or “non-profit status”… more money for the government. It is like you say, there are very few things in this country that the government hasn’t infiltrated!!!
Believe me, I’ve looked into this in detail. I tried to set up a school. I wanted to set up a school to teach kids from about age 4. The state absolutely would not let me. I had to get a state-approved degree in child management, or it would not be permitted. Or I could hire someone who had such a degree. In other words, I could not set up that school — because I wasn’t giving the state their cut. That’s so wrong.
